Galveston Jewish Cemetery Wandering Among The Beautiful Tombstones

Last weekend we took a trip down to Galveston. Since we are packing up to move to Minnesota in next couple of weeks it may be our last trip for awhile.

I love the water, watching people fish in the Gulf of Mexico, eating at the eateries and most of all visiting the cemetery.

This is the best cemetery ever. Not just one but several different ones in a block or two area. We skipped church and went on Sunday so I was able to visit the Jewish cemetery for the first time.

I could spend weeks just taking pictures among the tombstones in Galveston.
Today's tombstone is for
Henriette wife of Sylvain Blum
born April 2 1850 died Nov 26 1909

Thanks for stopping by to see my posting .. please come again.. Grace

Galveston Texas Remembering Francis Lightfoot Lee and Katie Bartlett

If you ever get the chance to visit Galveston Texas you will find the most wonderful cemetery there. It is really about 6 different cemeteries in this several block area . One right next to the other.

I have only been able to go there twice and have so much to see and take pictures of.
Today is another of the gravestones in the Episcopal Cemetery.

Today I am featuring Francis Lightfoot Lee who died June 9th 1914 at the age of 63.

On the side of his gravestone we have the gravestone of Katie Lee Bartlett Died August 6 1921 age 80 years old

There is so much to see here and I hope to make it to Galvestone several times over the next year to take pictures and post them here and at http://www.findagrave.com/ .

Thanks For stopping by .. Hope that you visit again .. Grace

A Whole New Cemetery To Search ... Off We Went To Galveston Texas

There must be something strange with people like us " graveyard rabbits". The excitement I felt when I first saw this old Cemetery almost in my back yard. I felt like a child at Christmas.
Hubby and I decided we would take a short trip in our own back yard. We have been in Texas since May and had not been able to go to Galveston Texas. We have visited Galveston at least twice over the last 10 years and love it there.

Off we went for a day trip this last Saturday. Our plan was to search for treasures to sell on the Internet, stop for lunch and to see the Gulf Of Mexico. Of course I could not go to Galveston with out searching for a Cemetery. Boy did I find a Cemetery. This piece of land has something like 5 to 6 Cemeteries all together but sectioned off. I will have to do more research in the near future as I take pictures there. For this visit I was able to take 10 different stones. Sweet hubby forgot to bring a book to read.

This is the first of many postings. This post is honoring.

Grave stone says " In The Memory of My Beloved Mother "

I told my hubby we need to take a day trip to Galveston at least once a month, we can hunt for treasures, go out to lunch and of course make a quick stop at the cemetery.

On the way out of town, we went a different road and what did I spot .. two more old cemeteries.
